Mixed Doubles Tournament 2019

Hi Members

Well it is nearly that time a year again when we hold our annual Mixed Doubles tournament.  This year we will be holding it on Sunday, 20th October 2019 and as usual I hope you will all support the Club in some way either by entering a team or helping out on the day in the kitchen or where ever we may need you to be.

If you are willing to play on the day I really hope you will take the initiative and find yourself a willing partner to play with and not leave it up to me to try and find one for you.  I think we have all been a part of the Club long enough to be able to walk up to someone and ask them whether they would like to play.

I have attached the Entry Form link below, however there will be entry forms at the Club if you are interested.  Please ensure that the form is completed with the details of both entrants and making sure you include payment.  If you are doing this electronically can you please ensure you send me a copy of the EFT payment details as well.

We have been having some pretty stunning weather lately so I am hoping that this will continue beyond the day.  As this tournament is open to non-members of your Club, if you know anybody who plays tennis that would be interested in joining us please feel free to forward this email on to them.

If you have any questions in relation to this, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Cost: $60 for couple, or $35 if partner is required.

Congratulations to WTC Boys Under 16 Pennants Team!

Hi Members

I just give a shout out to our Boys Under 16’s pennant team for successfully winning their Final on Sunday, 24th March.  Congratulations to you all!  You have not only done your families proud but you have done our Club proud too.  I was fortunate enough to be there and witness some of your matches, and quite honestly I am well impressed at how well you all handled yourselves out there. You are an inspiration all our up and coming juniors.

I would like to thank all the parents, that week in and week out, support these kids by driving them to all their pennant matches.  I saw first-hand how much you guys do, and it is awesome to see.  I would also like to thank Mike Roberts for helping these kids develop into great tennis players!

Thank you to everyone involved!

Hoping to make the festive season  a little brighter for those who are not as fortunate as ourselves, this year we  are having a collection for charity, instead of a secret Santa  gift  giving. St. Vincent de Paul society are delighted to be involved and are thankful for any gifts which they receive.
To this end there is a gift  and non-perishable food items  collection, there will be 2 boxes in the clubroom, can you please place any donation in the appropriate box, the society have asked that gifts are left unwrapped.
the collection  will be until Christmas party night 24th  of November, as the  society  need to collect them the following week, to be able to sort and distribute to those who need.

Wednesday Men’s Doubles NDTA Champs!

Hi Members

I just want to congratulate our Wednesday Night Men’s NDTA pennant team for coming out on top in their Final against Wembley Downs. I remember vividly watching our guys play against the very same team last season and unfortunately losing to them in a super tie break. This year however was a totally different story! Both teams played exceptionally well and as a spectator it was a great match to watch.

I also just want to thank all the supporters who showed up last night, it just amazes me how great a club we have when it comes time to show our support for our players.

Well done to Ronnie (Captain), Ashley, Josh, Kieran and Rodney. It’ll be great to see another trophy at our Club.

Also note that anybody who has not paid and has put their name down to play pennants you will not be able to play until membership has been paid.

If you have any questions or issues regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact Molly, myself or your Members’ Rep Jeff Yeung.  Our Juniors can speak with Mike Roberts if preferred.

Our Wednesday Men’s and Saturday Mixed Doubles Teams have made the Finals!

Hi All

This is just a friendly reminder that our Saturday Mixed Doubles Final will now be held at Ocean Ridge Tennis Club as a combined final between Divison 1 and 2.  Division 1 teams are Ocean Ridge v Alexander Park 2 and Division 2 teams are Wanneroo v Wembley Downs.  Play will be from 1PM this coming Saturday, 15th September.  I understand that this is a usual Social tennis day however it would be awesome to have some of our members drop down and support them.  I reckon it will be a great day of tennis.

Also, next Wednesday, 19th September our Wednesday night Men’s team will be playing their Finals match at North Shore Country Club as a combined final between Division 1 and 2.  I am not sure at this stage who will be playing from Division 1 but our Division 2 teams are Wanneroo v Wembly Downs.  Again I understand this is a Social tennis night but it would be great if there were a few people there to support them.  Play will be from 7PM.

On a slightly different note I intend to support both teams by attending both Saturday and Wednesday night so it would be nice to get a volunteer to take responsibility of opening and locking up the Clubrooms on Saturday and/or Wednesday night?  If you wish to offer your services, please let me know.

Lastly, I would like to congratulate both teams for making it to the finals and wish you all the best of luck.

Cheers,
Debbie
