A long-awaited update on the Elliot Park redevelopment – and it’s good news. Courts 7–10 have now been surfaced, and the transformation of the facility is really starting to take shape. The photo above was taken from Court 6 (one of the existing hard courts still to be completed) and shows the newly laid courts in the background.
Timeline
The City of Wanneroo has advised that practical completion is currently scheduled for 30 October 2026, with handover to the Wanneroo Tennis Club expected during the following week.
There are still several important steps before the facility can officially be handed over:
- completion of courts 1–4
- final inspections, testing and certification
- training and site walkthroughs
Based on the current advice from the City’s Project Manager, members should plan on play recommencing at Elliot Park during the second week of November. Everyone involved is working hard to finish as quickly as possible, but we’d rather give a realistic timeframe than raise expectations too early.
Thank you
This project has taken much longer than originally anticipated, and the committee appreciates the patience and understanding members have shown throughout. Like you, we’re excited to see the finish line in sight and look forward to welcoming everyone back to the club soon.
We’ll keep members updated via our Facebook page and email as handover and reopening arrangements are confirmed. In the meantime social tennis continues at our temporary venues – members, check TeamReach for this week’s sessions.
